Directions: After reading the lecture, answer one of the three questions below. This answer is due no later than Thursday, Oct. 13.

Your responses to other students' answers are due by midnight on Sunday, Oct. 16. Remember: in order to get the full 20 points, you MUST respond thoughtfully to at least 2 other people's postings.

Just answer one of the following questions.

1. In Utopia, Hythloday declares that the Utopian way of doing things is much better than the European (specifically, the English) way. In his own voice at the end, More says he can't agree with all of Hythloday's ideas. Do you believe that the Utopian way of life could work in the modern world? In supporting your opinion, cite specific examples from Utopia.

2. Why does the play, Dr. Faustus, still speak to us, in our century?

3. During his lifetime, Christopher Marlowe was accused of being an atheist. Does the play he wrote, Dr. Faustus, support Christianity, or attack it?
